25 February saw the opening of a new data centre on Hammarö with the municipal company Sätterstrand Business Park AB, which is responsible for developing business operations in the area. The facility is a result of a project focusing on the environment, renewable energy and energy efficiency, and the IT environment has been described by Hammarö Municipality as “one of the greenest in the world”.

Redpill Linpro already had two data centres, and has long supplied business-critical operating services for a number of major customers both within and outside Scandinavia.

“Setting up a new data centre here was a strategic decision,” says Anders Liling, CEO of Redpill Linpro. “This is a long-term solution, which is essential in order to meet the growing demand for environmentally friendly IT operations. Since the world’s combined IT operations have a greater environmental impact than the whole of the global aviation industry, for example, it is extremely important that we make a difference where we can by being as energy-efficient as possible as a supplier. We will gradually grow within this new data centre, offering existing customers the opportunity to migrate their IT environments. We also believe that the new cloud services that we are currently developing will be seen to be even more attractive as ‘green’ alternatives.”
